Tonight's rule…

Knock Who's there?

Visitors usually keep tonight's rule. Neighbours don't know it, so sooner or later they slip.

A sickness is going around, so there's a curfew at night. You keep the door of a block of flats. Some knockers aren't people. They mostly keep one rule, written on the door's notice. Ask, then open or keep shut.

Neighbours don't know the rule, so they break it without noticing. A visitor sometimes breaks it on purpose to fool you, so one slip doesn't prove anything. Neighbours often bring up the curfew, but not always. Visitors bring it up too, but they get a detail wrong, and a real neighbour never does.

Everyone chats in plain English letters. If you knock as an inspector, write at least 3 real lines. Mashing the keys doesn't score.
